Millions of ventilation fans operate daily in buildings throughout the United States. Ventilation fans are found in bathroom ceilings, laundry rooms, kitchens, and in other homes and businesses. Over the past few years, investigators noticed that an increasing number of fires appeared to originate in ventilation fans and caused catastrophic damages to homes and businesses. Andrew Thoresen and Kevin Lewis took on the challenge of investigating whether ventilation fans were causing fires and, if so, how and why.
