Drew concentrates his practice in sophisticated estate, tax, and business succession planning for high net worth individuals and their families. His practice includes the preparation of wills and revocable trusts, spousal lifetime access trusts, defective grantor trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, dynasty trusts, and other sophisticated estate planning documents; advising clients with respect to generation-skipping planning, charitable giving, and life insurance arrangements; and structuring family limited partnerships and limited liability companies. In addition, Drew regularly counsels fiduciaries in the administration of complex estates and trusts, including probate, asset valuations, disclaimers, post-mortem tax planning, and preparing death tax returns.

Drew also focuses his practice on representing tax-exempt organizations on a wide range of structuring, compliance, and operating issues, including formation and restructuring; obtaining and maintaining tax exemption; general tax compliance and corporate governance; operational policies and procedures; unrelated business income tax; private foundation excise taxes; corporate sponsorships; and joint ventures. Drew regularly works with private foundations, public charities, social clubs, and business leagues, and he has extensive experience advising large nonprofit charter school networks. 

Drew earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration, concentrating on management information systems, from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and his law degree from Elon University School of Law. Drew also holds an LL.M. in taxation from the Villanova University School of Law Graduate Tax Program where he received an Estate Planning Certificate.
