Julie is an experienced litigator and trial lawyer with a strong record of successful advocacy representing insurer clients in subrogation matters at every level of state and federal courts. She has experience in cases involving construction claims, public utility breaches. trucking losses, auto claims, and homeowner property losses arising from utility locating errors, water intrusion, electrical surges, natural gas, propane explosions, and fires.

Most recently, Julie was a partner in the construction law group of a full-service law firm based in the Midwest, where she defended clients against claims for property damages and personal injury. Before that, she served as staff counsel and senior subrogation trial attorney for one of the largest insurers in the United States. In that role, she managed a large volume of property damage subrogation matters, including auto claims and homeowner property losses, from negotiation through trial.

Early in her career, Julie served as an assistant state's attorney in Cook County, Illinois, for nearly a decade. There, she argued 12 appellate cases and three cases in state supreme court and authored over 75 appellate briefs. After moving into private practice, Julie gained experience litigating sophisticated civil matters, including large property and casualty matters for a post-merger entity where she had previously served as in-house counsel.

Julie currently serves as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Illinois-Chicago Law School, teaching appellate advocacy skills. She earned her bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, from Creighton University and her J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, where she was a note and comment editor for the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology. After law school, she served for a year as a law clerk with the Honorable John F. Grady, former Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
